This year, all employees are doing 1-on-1!
Translated from 日本語 • View original

At Colorkrew (hereinafter referred to as "Caracle"), I and all employees in the role of representative try to do one-on-one every year. This year, it is being held to rave reviews, but I would like to write about why I do it every year and what kind of good things there are.

3 people every week!

I do 1on1 every Monday between 4pm and 6pm. In principle, it is 30 minutes per person, from 4 p.m., 4 p.m., with a short break, and the last one is from 5:30 p.m.

I wrote that it was 30 minutes in principle, but in the end, I often end up talking for more than 30 minutes.

Especially in the sessions from 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., there is plenty of time after that, so if there is something we want to talk to each other, we try to talk without forcing ourselves to cut it off in 30 minutes.

By the way, this year I talked for about 2 hours at most. If you still don't have enough time, you may have to get a refill at a later date.

The target audience is people who have not nominated me as a coach or mentor, in short, people who do not have daily communication.

We will include part-time students, so we will take a fairly long period of time to work with roughly 60 to 70 people. It is not done for evaluation, so there is no need to set a specific time to do it.

I've been doing it for more than three months this year, but as of mid-September, I'm about halfway through it. I will take my time over about half a year.

What to Talk About

「1on1やりますよー」のGoalousでの投稿

This is my post on Goalous of "I'll do it 1-on-1".

There is a circle called iKEIJI that I send out within Goalous, and about once or twice a week, I write about what I have been thinking about recently and what I want you to know.

By the way, it is also a Karakul style to post unrelated photos.

I took a picture and posted this for this post in-house. Why one finger and a piece? It doesn't make any particular sense.

If the post is a little interesting or eye-catching, that's fine.

The content of this post is a mixture of Japanese and English, and it is a mess.

This is because the number of members working in English instead of Japanese has increased recently.

Goalous has a Google translation function, so you can translate with a single button, but Japanese→ the accuracy of English translation is sometimes not good, so I try to write both myself when I post important posts.

I digress a lot. Back to what we are talking about.

For the time being, we talk about work, future careers, and if we have any problems, we talk about them. However, there is no need to stick to such content, and basically if there is something else you want to talk about, you will do it in a free talk style.

Why it's better to do 1-on-1 even in open and flat caracles

Speaking of karakul, open and flat.

It is an organizational culture where it is easy to "talk freely with the people you want to talk to when you want to".

The hurdles to talk to me are much lower than those of ordinary company managers. In a survey taken this year**, 84% of people answered "Yes" when asked, "Can you express your opinion to managers?"**

I think it would be better to do additional one-on-one like this.

The reason is that there are times when "I talk when I have the opportunity, but don't force myself to talk if I don't have the opportunity". A little doubt or dissatisfaction. And what I want to say to the company. Many people don't usually bother to talk to me about their careers.

As you can see from the survey results above, there should be few people who "can't say", but no one says something to me that often.

It's not that you can't talk, and you don't think it's a matter of going out of your way to talk.

Furthermore, with Corona becoming a basic way of working, this trend is becoming more and more encouraged.

However, these one-on-one sessions are a good opportunity to talk about such small things. I know from experience that these interviews can lead to things that I didn't notice before.

It is very important to continue to do 1-on-1 every year.

The important thing is to "have fun talking"

As mentioned above, 1-on-1 is not only a one-time event, but will continue to be done next year and the year after.

In such an interview, if you get nervous with each other and only talk about safe things, you will not be able to achieve your original purpose.

Therefore, it is important to "talk about what you want to talk about in a fun and casual way".

Even if you can't have a good conversation in one go, I think it's important to aim for a one-on-one that will lead you to a good impression of each other and connect to you the next time you talk.

I recommend having fun talking 1-on-1. Why don't you try a company that doesn't do it?
