Even open organizations sometimes discuss closures
For business people, information is power. How you have information will give you power both inside and outside the company.
At ISAO, we aim to achieve zero information disparity in order to enable all employees to participate in management with the highest power.
On the other hand, when asked "Do you communicate with everyone about everything?", the answer is "It depends on the situation".
When is communication closed in an open organization?
Close at times like this
For example, when there are issues related to an individual's mental health or something is not going well within the team, when people around you gather and talk about what to do. It's also different to involve all employees in a discussion.
At ISAO, the people involved first gather and talk.
The important thing here is to gather "everyone" involved regardless of their position. Call everyone you need to talk to about the issue.
On the other hand, reasons like "because you're great" are not reasons to call you. We gather people from the perspective of people who can contribute to solving the problem.
Note: In ISAO, there is no concept of "great" in the first place, but in the case of an organization with a hierarchy.
If you don't think you should use everyone's time, talk in small groups first
Also, when you talk to the person next to you first, it is recommended to talk in a closed or small group of people. If necessary, we will have the necessary conversations while connecting people.
This is not so much a closure as it is important for the organization to be efficient and not to inadvertently take away other people's time. Therefore, ISAO tries to talk about stories that don't mind being heard in an open space as much as possible.
Open up about closed stories
Even if you start talking with a small group, once you have decided on a conclusion or direction, be more and more open.
By being open about as much as possible, the information gap will disappear, and if anyone has an opinion on the issue, we will be able to actively incorporate it.
Speed Anyway
The important thing is speed. Don't create a time lag. Once decided, I will share it anyway.
If there is no time lag, only some people have information, and the composition that creates an information gap can be eliminated.
Nowadays, there are many tools such as internal SNS to share information, and it is possible to share information at a speed that was not possible a long time ago.
ISAO's service, "Goalous," aims to create the strongest collaboration by sharing important information with all employees, including their own goals and activities toward them, not just information sharing.
