Is Colorkrew a good place to work for mom and dad employees?
Translated from 日本語 • View original

This is Ai in charge of Colorkrew Product CS.

At Colorkrew, many employees are working while raising children (100% return rate after taking maternity leave!). ) I often hear that it is easy to work. I am one of them. I thought about what makes it easier for employees to work with childcare.

The average working mother living in Tokyo?

First of all, I would like to introduce myself a little. I gave birth in 2019 and 2021 and have taken maternity and childcare leave twice. The basic working hours are 9:00~16:00. I work with reduced hours. (By the way, Colorkrew can choose to work shorter hours or full-time after childcare leave.) )

I am in charge of CS and Azure resale related work.

When it comes to raising children, both parents live far away, so the couple has no choice but to do something about it every day. My husband is the one who takes care of the nursery school as a husband and wife, but I handle it almost alone on weekdays until picking me up ~ putting me to bed. *This "~" includes shopping, preparing dinner, feeding food, bathing, changing clothes, drying hair, putting away dishes, folding laundry, checking dirty nursery school clothes, tidying up the room, reading picture books, brushing teeth, putting them to bed, preparing breakfast for the next day... and other small nameless housework.

I think there are quite a lot of people with these conditions. And aren't you usually tired? As usual, I think it's because of Colorkrew that I'm still able to work somehow.

Hybrid work that allows you to work remotely and come to the office is the best!

At Colorkrew, you basically come to work 2~3 times a week (I come to work 2 times a week), and you can work remotely on other days. If you had to go to work 5 times a week while raising your children, you might be even more exhausted and frustrated with your children. Before giving birth, I used to go to work as a matter of course. Whether it's because it's postpartum (or more than 3 years have passed) or just aging, going to work twice a week is just right for me who gets tired easily.

It's not that the more remote you are, the happier you are, but if you're remote 5 a week, you'll be too lonely and miss the hustle and bustle of the company. Lunch is not leftovers, and I want to eat out once in a while. In that sense, hybrid work, which mixes office work and remote work, is suitable for me now.

Also, even if it is basic to go to work 2~3 times a week, there are weeks when you go to work once a week or work remotely due to your child's poor health. I'm very grateful that you can tolerate that. By the way, this is not a privilege of working moms, but there are people who are not in good health (can work, but may get sick and catch a cold, etc.) or workcations, so Colorkrew has a wide pocket.

An environment where you can get support even when you take time off

When children are small, sudden fever occurs frequently! It happens often, isn't it? At the nursery school my child attends, if you have a fever, you can only go to kindergarten after 24 hours after the fever has subsided. This means that if you check your fever at the nursery school, you will automatically take a break the next day... When this is found out in the morning, almost two days off are confirmed. Truly despair! (Of course, I know that children are the hardest.) )

You may switch to remote or request childcare for sick children, but depending on your child's symptoms, you may need to take time off. Colorkrew has an atmosphere that makes it easy to rest at such times.

I don't know because I haven't worked at another company while raising children, but I often hear stories from friends and social media that people at work make bad faces when they take a break. There is no such thing at all, and you can receive warm words such as "It's hard if you have XX disease" and "Take care of yourself!" while receiving support for your work. This is also what I think is easy to work at Colorkrew.

*As an aside, there is one thing that mom and dad have. When you start sending your child to daycare, you will learn the names of diseases that you have never heard of before! Streptococcus, adenovirus, pool fever, herpangina, hand, foot and mouth disease... The children opened up a new world (crying)

Mommy Truck? What it is

Have you ever heard of the term "mommy truck"? After giving birth, if you are not entrusted with responsible work and simple office work is prolonged, your personal growth will be adversely affected, and as a result, you will not be able to choose the career you want in the future. At Colorkrew, I have never felt a mommy track problem. There are things that cannot be done due to time constraints due to shortened working hours, but other than that, you can work responsibly while thinking for yourself like other employees.

I feel that this is also a nice point of Colorkrew.

This is also expressed in the Code of Conduct. ・Be Productive ・Keep learning ・Stay Unconfortable

*Colorkrew has a total of 10 codes of conduct. If you are interested in other things, click here!

The important thing is the spirit of respect for each other

Because I am a working mother and work shorter hours, I don't take it for granted that I will be considered. But I don't feel more sorry than necessary because I'm a working mother and work shorter hours.

Right now, I'm in the child-rearing phase, but when my children grow up, I plan to go back to full-time work again. At that time, I want to support those around me.

Depending on the life stage, the timing of saving work is different. Also, the reason for saving varies from person to person, such as childcare, nursing care, or personal matters.

At Colorkrew, we consider not only child-rearing, but also each person's circumstances, which may be why many employees think it is easy to work.

What I can do now is to be grateful for the current environment and support system and do what I should do. And I think it's about maintaining energy and physical strength so that you can support those around you in the future.

Now, it's time to think about what to have for dinner today, so that's the end of today.
