In the previous article, "How to live without being tainted by the company (1)", I wrote about my experience after joining the company, divided into work and afterfive. This time, I would like to write about the main topic, "How not to be domesticated by the company".
30s gradually becoming office workers
When you were a student who did not know the reality of society, you may have discussed your blue ambitions and idealism with your friends.
When we become members of society, we become familiar with the company and gradually become integrated. And about 10 years after graduating, in their 30s, many people start a family or buy a house to have something to protect.
You can't live your life as you want and get fired from the company, so you will gradually become more cautious about what you say and do. It's fine if you're cautious, but if you only think about your position in the company and start talking and doing things that deviate from the essence, you will become a salaryman tied to the company in a so-called bad sense I will.
Of course, everyone must have a conflict at first. The gap between what you believe in and what you claim and that doesn't work in the company.
Those who give up here will live subordinate to the company.
Can I open up again if I manage to quit?
I don't think it's that important whether or not I can pass my argument within the organization.
The important thing is whether you can continue to insist on what you believe in.
Workers are legally protected, so they should not be forced to quit the company. However, if you continue to assert yourself and not only are you unacceptable, but you are always stared at by the bossy people in the company, it will be difficult to stay in the company.
Of course, it would be nice if we could continue to do well, but there may be times when we inevitably go wrong. If you continue to insist, you run the risk.
In preparation for such a time, you need to be prepared for the end.
"Do you think it's okay to quit the company (or be forced to quit)?"
It depends on "skills that can be used outside of your current company".
Isn't that skill just for surviving in your current company?
What is "a skill that can only be used at that company" in the opposite direction of skills that can be used outside of your current company?
In-house connections are the most important thing. It only works within the company. (However, "skills to create internal connections" are just as useful when you change companies.) )
How to use the company's own system and how to pass approvals are representative examples that can only be used within the company. The same goes for niche internal rules in document creation.
From another perspective, it can be said that people who currently have many jobs that use skills that are only applicable to that company have few opportunities to grow as human resources in the market.
A joke about a job seeker from a large company who is asked by a job change agent, "What can I do?" and says, "I can be a general manager."
If you spend a long time without growth, you will not be like a person.
Skills that can be used outside of a specific company are called portable skills in the sense that they can be carried around. If you have portable skills, you can survive in the market.
I would be happy if this blog would be an opportunity to think about what kind of portable skills can be used in each of your own occupations.
Assertive human resources with skills that can be used outside the company
In order to live a life that is not tame by the company.
To summarize the story so far...
・Have skills that can be used outside the company (portable skills) ・Firmly insist on what you think is right (you don't have to go through) ・Be prepared to fight for your claim sometimes. If you can do this, you should be able to live without being tamed even if you work for a company.
I would like to write a separate story from the perspective of management. Rather than people who have been tamed and have not insisted and have given up, the seemingly troublesome type of person who expresses what he thinks and asserts his ideas is overwhelmingly more likely to contribute to the company.
Therefore, making a claim without being tamed is only good for you and the company.
