At Colorkrew, which operates a flat organization, there are no positions or hierarchies, and there is a leader for each project.
Leaders are sometimes selected regardless of company history or age, and some leaders are experienced and lead strongly, while others do not have much experience as leaders and cannot fully demonstrate leadership.
By the way, as for myself, I am the leader of the company's entire management project in Bali Flat, and at the same time I participate in other projects as a member.
I would like to write about what I think is a good leader and, on the contrary, a bad leader, while thinking about the bosses I have been involved with in the past (laughs).
Conditions for a Good Leader (1) Produce Results
The leader's job is to commit to results and produce results. If you can't produce results, you won't be able to continue your business, and you won't be able to continue to provide a stable environment for the members there.
In order to achieve results, you need not only commitment, but also the skills to create a vision, involve everyone, and manage the project.
Conditions for a good leader (2) Easy to communicate
It is important to be friendly to others and have low communication hurdles.
The reason why it is important is that the "necessary information" must always come in from the members.
I think it is common in various organizations that when a bad situation is happening, the leader gets angry and hides it as much as possible because it is scary.
Naturally, even if you hide bad things, the situation will get worse and be exposed over time. At that time, if you don't speak honestly and give explanations that successfully avoid responsibility, you won't be able to fundamentally solve the problem.
Therefore, creating an environment where honest conversations are so important for leaders.
Conditions for a good leader (3) Can give energy to the team
Energy is propagated to a person. It seems that there are three types of people when it comes to having energy.
A person who is burning and burns the people around him
If you get close to a burning person, you will burn
People who don't burn no matter what they do
A leader must be a person who always gives energy to those around him, that is, a person who is "burning and burning those around him."
About leaders who look good but don't
The definition of a bad leader is the opposite of the above, but it looks good to be troublesome, but it is actually a bad leader.
A typical pattern is
A: The type that is friendly and has a good team atmosphere, but cannot produce results because they have no skills B: The type that produces short-term results because they lead authoritarianly, but cannot build a team, so they ruin the team in the medium term.
Type A is relatively popular with members, but it is a problem for the company. Type B looks good because it produces results from the company's point of view, but it is not popular with the members. And it is harmful when considering medium- to long-term sustainability.
As for B, you can do not only short-term reviews and listen to the team, but the problem is type A.
He is kind and doesn't hate the members, but no matter how long it takes, he doesn't get results.
It is important not to leave such a bad leader unattended, but to work hard from those around you to change them into good leaders in order to improve team strength.
