When we talk about agile methodology, it is common to make a connection with the project management area of a company, especially in areas related to technology. But this type of methodology is no longer exclusive to project management, as it is increasingly gaining strength and being implemented in several areas. The Human Resources area is one of them. Based on agile methodologies, agile HR is still considered a new approach. The goal is for the area to be less operational and more strategic, it can be said that it is based on some premises. We will mention them throughout the text. How agile methodology can add to the life of the HR professional In 2019, the Agile HR Manifesto was created, inspired by the Agile Manifesto (2001). Agile HR can add in several points if used and incorporated intelligently by professionals in the human resources area. The main points of improvement with the use of this methodology for the HR area are: - Assist in the development and professional growth of the company's employees, with the aim of making the workplace a pleasant place; - Facing changes and challenges are necessary for personal growth, it is important that HR encourages employees to accept and welcome these situations when necessary; - Help create a trained and collaborative team; - Conveying confidence in the work done by the employee will help him to be more motivated in the development of his personal and professional skills; - Make it clear to the employee that his growth is stimulated, highlighting the strengths and working on the development of the weaknesses of the employees. That said, let's mention the main premises of Agile HR: - Collaborative networks more than hierarchical structures - Transparency - Adaptability - Inspire and engage - Intrinsic motivation - Ambition Main changes needed for Agile HR to work Some transformations need to be taken into account so that these points of improvement can be executed. Where should these transformations happen? - Recruitment and selection: The name itself says, when we talk about Agile HR we can understand that time is precious. Thus, it is not beneficial for the company to hire employees who are not aligned with the company's culture and goals. So that there is no waste of time and a high rate of turnover, the recruitment and selection of new employees must be done more assertively. - Possible changes in the team: It is a characteristic of the Agile culture, to have teams in squads. But do you know what this means? Squad is a concept of the Scrum methodology that means multidisciplinary team. This team is composed of employees from different areas who work towards the same goal, with well-defined deadlines. As we have people from different areas interacting on an equal footing, the focus of the hierarchy ends up decreasing. The HR team needs to closely monitor this movement and the development of the professionals involved, supporting and stimulating engagement and communication between the parties. - Feedback: Receiving feedback from the company is very important for the employee, whether positive or negative. Because through it, it is possible to observe which points can be improved, which are the best skills and how this can contribute to the professional growth of both the employee and the company. In this way, we can say that performance evaluations should be done with a certain frequency. - Training and development: One of the biggest complaints of employees is that when hired by a company, the integration, training, and development process are not monitored and done properly. Not having good training provided by the company makes the employee demotivated. One of the biggest goals of Agile HR is to invest in the training and development of its employees. Encouraging leaders and employees so that the team is qualified and keeps in constant learning is one of the functions of HR in this new model. To collaborate with the implementation of agile methodologies, HR needs to be in direct contact with all areas of the organization, putting itself in a strategically designed position. In this way, we can say that Agile HR helps accelerate digital transformation in all areas of the company.
