What is Productivity?
I often see articles that aim to improve the efficiency of organizational management, such as "eliminating useless meetings" and "efficient spinach", but I think that in the end, "productivity" is everything.
What is productivity?
It is an activity that creates added value. Added value is the value that you can pay for it.
If you do 100 activities and create 120 values, you will benefit 20.
If you do 100 activities and create 80 value, you will have a profit of ▲20, that is, a deficit.
And the total amount of added value of all employees is the company's profit.
By the way, Japan is famous for its low productivity among developed countries in the world.
- Long working hours
- Meaningless meetings
- Bureaucratic internal procedures
All of these are productivity inhibitions.
ISAO Productivity
Talking a little about ISAO, ordinary income in fiscal 2009 was minus 600 million yen.
It can be said that the price paid by customers for the total amount of our activities was overwhelmingly small.
In fiscal 2015, it was +450 million yen, so the price paid by customers was much higher than the total amount of activities.
The difference is more than 1 billion yen.
ISAO has been a company with about 200 people for a long time, so it is calculated that it has increased the added value of 5 million yen per person per year.
So what has changed between 2009 and 2015?
In fact, I worked more overtime in 2009, and I should have worked as hard as I do now.
That's right. I was not productive.
Lumberjack and Axe (Ono)
So how do you increase productivity?
Do you know the story of the lumberjack and the axe? This is the story.
There was a lumberjack in a village who got a new axe. On the first day, he cut down 10 trees in the forest with the axe. With each passing day, he began to work longer and harder, but on the contrary, the number of trees he cut down became smaller and smaller.
A friend who saw this advised him, "Why don't you sharpen the blade of your axe?
Then the hard-working woodcutter replied: "If I had time to do that, I would have to cut down more trees."
Increase productivity and aim for the strongest team
It's funny if it's for each person. But look back at yourself.
If you replace it with an axe for a lumberjack or business, have you been able to improve your "knowledge" and "skills"?
ISAO would like to determine what an axe is for me, improve productivity while polishing it, and aim to be the strongest team where high-value individuals gather.
