The present age is said to be an unstable and uncertain era called VUCA.
What is VUCA
V… Volatility (変動性・不安定さ) U… Uncertainty C... Complexity (複雑性) A… Ambiguity
A long time ago, once you could establish a stable position in the company, you could spend your whole life in peace. However, this is not the case in the era we live in now.
Furthermore, due to the impact of the new coronavirus, the work style that is premised on going to the office has changed significantly, and with the introduction of remote work, it has become an even more severe era in which work results are being questioned.
Although it is a harsh and unstable era, it is also an era in which there are many opportunities for the leading role to change rapidly.
I would like to think about how to create a mentality to survive such an era.
Hagane's mentality!?
I'm sure people around me think I'm mentally strong.
From the time I was a new employee until now, I didn't pander to people very much and had a personality that said what I thought. Also, even if there are negative opinions around you, you probably think so because you have finally pushed forward on your own path.
I'm embarrassed to be too honest, but the truth is that I'm not a steel mentality or anything.
Since I have been in sales for a long time, I am the type who is relatively sensitive to the subtleties of people's emotions. Everyone laughs when I say this, but I think I'm a shy and rather sensitive type.
It hurts when people say negative things, and when I think they don't like me, I feel very depressed. In a mental sense, I think I'm a normal person.
However, he may be the type to recover a little faster.
I have my own tips for getting back on my feet, so I would like to introduce you to how to do it below.
It's inevitable to be depressed. Resilience is important
Whether it's at work or in my private life, it alternates between times that go well and times that don't. I don't think there are people in the world who have been doing well all the time, including me.
When things don't go well, everyone naturally gets depressed.
What I am deciding here is to "admit that I am depressed first". Don't be stubborn, saying, "I'm not depressed!", and be honest with your feelings. By doing so, you can accept that feeling within yourself.
After accepting it, try to recover from it as soon as possible.
So how should we work on it and get back on our feet?
When things don't work, chop up the problem
When things don't go well, first break down the problem into as little detail as possible. On top of that, I sort between what I can't change even if I try hard and what I can change.
First of all, about things that cannot be changed by one's own power.
If you come to the conclusion that there is no way to change after thinking about it carefully, accept the fact that it is not going well. "Why can't I change it? Don't think so. It's useless to think about it. I'll keep it simple.
The same goes for things that have happened in the past. The past cannot be changed. It's important to remember, but there's no point in dragging your feelings on it forever.
On the other hand, when it comes to things that can be changed if you work hard, you will think carefully about how to deal with them. Make an action plan for it. Once you have a plan of action, you will implement it steadily. That way, one day the problem will be solved.
If you think and act like this, you can free yourself from hazy feelings.
At first, it may be painful to accept that you can't get rid of it. However, don't think about it, and steadily work on what you can. Over time, the problem will become smaller and smaller.
The smaller the problem, the smaller the problem. If you do that, the degree of depression will be overwhelmingly smaller than you originally thought.
Find the Best Mood Change for You
Although it is cliché, a change of mood is also important. There are different ways to change your mood from person to person.
In my case, I want to go out drinking with someone I like because I have a relationship of trust. (Now due to the new coronavirus, it is quite difficult to go out for a drink.) Talking about what you think while getting drunk there. And sleep a lot.
Knowing how to change your mood in your own way will make it easier to turn your emotions into a positive one.
Divide the end
The last resort is to reopen. Whether it's at work or in my private life, no matter what bad things happen, I try to think, "No matter how bad things are, I won't die."
**As long as you are alive, you can try again. **
Even if I can't do it now, even if I lose, I'll get back up a little and try again. If you do it until you win, you will surely win in the end.
What did you think? I would be happy if it could be of any help to building a strong mentality for everyone.
▼ A free organizational reform seminar is also being held in which Colorkrew representative Nakamura, who has a strong mentality, will take the stage!
