Boa tarde! Oh, it's during the Colorkrew PR that just came out in Portuguese. This time, we interviewed Daniel, a Brazilian.
Goalous Brazil Debut!
Daniel returned to Brazil after working at Colorkrew as an intern. From there, I started selling Goalous by myself.
September 2020 during the Corona disaster. The SNS-type goal management tool Goalous has started to be available in Brazil. This is precisely because of him.
I will ask him a lot about his encounter with Colorkrew and his business story in Brazil.
By the way, Mr. Tasuku, who is in charge of Colorkrew's translation work, also cooperated with the interview. This time, we have specially prepared an English version, so if you want to read it in English, please click here.

Ai
Colorkrew PR. I was thrilled to be interviewed in English.
Worldwide Man, His Name Daniel
Ai:
Daniel, long time no see!
I always watch the daily activities of Goalous, so I don't feel like it's been a long time (laughs).
Daniel:
Yes, I'm watching everyone's activities from Brazil!
That's why I don't feel much loneliness even if I'm on the other side of the world.
Oh! There is a time difference, and it may be lonely that everyone in Japan is sleeping during the day and cannot be contacted (laughs).
Ai:
The time difference between Brazil and Japan is 12 hours. Thank you for taking the time!
What kind of career did you have before coming to Japan?
Daniel:
When I was a student, I did an internship at my father's restaurant and bank.
Since graduating, I have mainly been involved in marketing, consulting, and project management.
I worked in a wide range of fields, including financial markets, banking, telecommunications, consulting, technology, and even worked in the United States.
Ai:
You were working globally!
Why did you come to Japan, which is far away from Brazil?
Daniel:
My wife was stationed in Japan for work, and I decided to go with her.
Ai:
Daniel was also working at that time, right?
Were you reluctant to quit your job?
Daniel:
Not at all!
It's rare to get such a valuable opportunity.
I thought that if I said no here, I would regret it for the rest of my life.
I didn't care about my career at all!
As a result, I was able to work at Colorkrew and received a good synergy. I was able to start a new business in Brazil, and I'm glad I went to Japan for my career.

Meeting Colorkrew, which is easier to work for than Brazilian companies
Tasuku:
It was a good decision. By the way, were you thinking of working in Japan as well?
Daniel:
Japanese companies won't hire you if you can't speak Japanese, right? I couldn't speak at all, so I didn't want to work.
Ai:
There are probably many companies that require Japanese. Can you tell us how you came to work at Colorkrew from there?
Daniel:
My wife and Keiji (Colorkrew representative Keishi Nakamura) had a mutual acquaintance, and that's where our relationship was connected. I talked to Cage and thought I could work at Colorkrew.
Colorkrew is very unique. It's similar to a startup company, and it's even more flexible. There are many companies in Brazil with a good environment, but there are some hierarchies and organizational constraints.
I thought Colorkrew would be open and easy to work at.
Also, it was very good that the representative, Cage, was open-minded!
Ai:
I see, I don't think there are many companies like Colorkrew!
Cage is too open (laughs).
Tasuku:
yes yes (laughs)
Go Global! Colorkrew to the World
Ai:
What kind of work did you do at Colorkrew when you were in Japan?
Daniel:
Colorkrew is aiming for globalization. I was trying to expand Goalous and Mamoru Biz overseas.
I mainly contacted Brazilian and American companies and was engaged in sales activities. A year ago, online meetings were not that common, and it was very difficult to make an appointment. Now that the new coronavirus has spread all over the world and online meetings have become mainstream, it has become easier to get in touch.
Ai:
That's how I was taking on various challenges to expand overseas, and the time came to return to Brazil.
It seems that there was talk of working for another company, but why did you decide to work at Colorkrew in Brazil?
Daniel:
When I was in Japan, I was frustrated that I couldn't achieve good results. In 2019, when I was working at Colorkrew, I was able to connect with a lot of international companies. Even if they didn't sign a contract, there were many companies that still had potential.
The IT market in Brazil is huge. Feel the potential of Goalous. Sales materials are also prepared for overseas use.
I have no choice but to do this in Brazil as well! That's right.

At the Farewell party before returning to Brazil in 2019. It's unthinkable in the current corona disaster. [/caption]
The story begins in a coworking space in Brazil
Ai:
I felt the potential of Goalous in the Brazilian market! But it seems very difficult to challenge from 0... Where did you start in the first place?
Daniel:
First, I brought my computer to WeWork (co-working space) in Brazil to make connections.
That's where I met someone who I could partner with.
He introduced me to customers and leads, and my encounter with him may have been the biggest time I started my business in Brazil.
Tasuku:
It started by meeting people.
Can you tell us how you decided to expand your business from there?
Now Daniel is not only selling Goalous, but also becoming an OKR trainer and consulting for companies.
I was able to introduce Goalous naturally from consulting, and I thought it was a very good flow.
Daniel:
When I first came back to Brazil, I just wanted to sell Goalous and Mamoru Biz. However, the new coronavirus is also raging in Brazil,
Most companies will be working from home.
Mamoru Biz is a great product, but it is a tool that shows its true value only when you are in the office. It's hard to sell in this situation.
So I decided to focus on Goalous now.
Then, as I went into sales, I came up with the idea of using OKRs. The GKA philosophy that Goalous incorporates is an evolution of OKR.
That's why I think OKRs can be used in Goalous. One reason is that the partner I met at We work was an OKR trainer.
Ai:
In terms of the Brazilian market, Goalous is certainly in demand now!
Daniel:
I thought that in order for people to use Goalous in Brazil, they first needed to know what OKRs are and how they are structured.
Only a few people in a company know OKR.
First of all, I thought it would be better to become an OKR trainer and spread it throughout the company and get people to use Goalous.
Also, I knew that my partner was making a lot of money from OKR training (laughs).
Tasuku:
I see. How did you proceed specifically from there?
Daniel: Goalous has been talking to sales hundreds of times and has become able to say good sales pitches.
Now I can clearly communicate the value of Goalous, how to use it, and how I can use it to change the company well.
As for consulting, I had never trained before. I learned from my partner and started studying OKRs from scratch. About 30~40 hours.
From there, I prepared OKR materials for HR, marketing, sales, legal, accounting, management, etc.
It was a great challenge to spend a total of 150 hours of OKR training on 250 people! It was a good experience. This gave me confidence that I could propose the use of OKRs to any department.
Tasuku:
150 hours of training... That's amazing!
The part where you create from zero and the part where you take on big challenges is very Colorkrew-like.
Daniel, you are a fine karakler!
*Karakler = A person who embodies Colorkrew. I'm going to make it popular (laughs)
Daniel:
Thanks.
Perhaps thanks to the fact that I have been doing various things for free for free, the number of inquiries has finally increased recently.
You're doing consulting, right? You have a good tool, right? What.
Ai:
I did a lot of seminars and workshops. After more than half a year, it finally began to bear fruit.
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="800"]
We also actively communicate on zoom and Teams to share information about Brazil. [/caption]
What is the future you want to achieve in Brazil?
Ai:
How many companies do you have a contract with now?
Daniel:
There are four companies. 2 companies in Goalous and 2 companies in consulting.
Tasuku:
By the way, how long did it take to get this contract?
Daniel:
This year, Marcelo and I contacted more than 1,000 companies.
I think I was able to contact about 500 companies.
From there, about 150 companies went to the meeting, and 30 companies went to make specific proposals.
I'm honestly happy that I was able to sign contracts with four companies even during this corona disaster. Even if you don't get a contract now, I think there are companies that come back because they want to try it.
Ai:
1,000 companies!
You were working hard steadily. Please tell us about your goals for Brazil in the future.
Daniel:
First of all, focus on increasing your customers.
The economy is still bad, but the Brazilian tech market is very large.
There are many people who are interested in OKRs, so it's easy to introduce Goalous, and I want to introduce it as much as possible.
If people come back to the office, I think Mamoru Biz will sell well. It's a good tool that I've never seen in Brazil!
So, I would like to develop Colorkrew's products more and more in Brazil.
Ai:
From nothing, I could see that Daniel was doing his best to do business in Brazil with his own efforts and connections.
I will continue to support you from Goalous.
Let's do our best together as a caracular!

Finally
Not only Daniel, but all of us at Colorkrew will continue to accelerate "Go Global". Look forward to Colorkrew in 3, 5, and 10 years!
