How to overcome a difficult challenge
Translated from 日本語 • View original

From May to June, we held a program called "Kojima Juku" where seniors in their 40s and 50s shared their experiences to young leaders in their 30s.

The head of the cram school is Mr. Kojima, who lived a short but intense life from March to June. Why did he come to Colorkrew (hereinafter referred to as "Karakul") and why did he graduate in a short period of four months? What did you feel in Karakul, and what was he trying to leave behind in Karakul?

I feel like the time will come to introduce it on a separate blog. Mr. Kojima, thank you (laughs)

There are four students, two men and two women.

At the cram school, President Kojima gives lectures every time about "things that people who have gained experience know but can't be taught if you live normally," and as one of the senior observers, I participate and support the president.

"How to overcome a difficult wall" may be a topic that is surprisingly not usually talked about

Kojima Juku has a curriculum of 1 hour x 15 days every day. You will give classroom input, think for yourself, and ask questions and discuss as you proceed.

Among them, the other day, there was a request to hear about the experiences of the head of the school and observers about "how they have overcome challenges (walls) that seem difficult for them to overcome."

It is true that there are issues every day, and it is the Karakul style to consult with those around you and solve them in real time at that time.

However, since many of them are short-term, what to do when faced with a problem that needs to be solved over a larger and longer period of time may not be talked about in everyday work.

The teachings of Director Kojima are:

・For the inside (inside yourself**), "do what you are satisfied with", and for the outside, "do what you need to do (what is required)"**.

・While balancing both sides, I decided to try to reach the limit of my discretionary area.

Observers Share Their Experiences

Other observers who participated were able to hear not only their know-how, but also their experiences of facing uncontrollably difficult challenges that actually occurred in their careers.

In particular, the story of Yoshioka Observer is an experience that makes me think, "That's tough." He is a group of returnees who quit Karakul once, had that spectacular experience, and then returned to Karakul.

Masato Yoshioka's blog is here.

In this way, I digressed, but it was a good thing about Kojima Juku to be able to listen to quite valuable stories.

Nakamura-ryu, how to overcome difficult challenges

I have also told everyone my thoughts and ways of overcoming difficult challenges for me, so I would like to introduce them to you as well.

[STEP1] Even if it is difficult for you, think about "Is there anyone in the world who can do it?"

In order to objectively see the issue, I will first think about it like this. For example, let's say you think that there are a certain number of people in the world who can overcome the problem. In that case, there is a way to do it even if you don't have such a special skill.

By the way, there were almost no tasks that I thought were "difficult" in the past, and no one in the world had ever done them.

On the other hand, if you are working on a task that no one has ever done, to put it exaggeratedly, it means that you are already trying to invent for mankind, so it is difficult and natural, and it is not easy to do.

【STEP2】Anyway, find the "right way to do it"

This is a hypothesis. There is no guaranteed right answer to a difficult task.

**【STEP3】Follow the hypothesis and proceed steadily. **

So I will proceed little by little. It's OK if you move towards your goal at a good pace.

It's no good if you don't move forward, and it's not good if the speed is too slow. In that case, we decide that we need to change the method→ Back to STEP2

Basically, my idea is that if you go around these STEPS 1 to 3, everything will be solved.

There are past blogs from a slightly different angle when it comes to problem solving, so if you are interested, please take a look at that as well.
