Isn't it common to have big problems that need to be dealt with at the same time, both at work and in your private life?
Before one problem can be easily solved, another problem arises.
My head panics, and my condition worsens...
I would like to introduce what I do when that happens.
Murphy's Law
Problems overlap. A bee on a crying face. Stepping on and kicking. Haunting eyes on weak eyes...
When I was thinking about it, "Murphy's Law" came to mind. Come to think of it, I don't hear much about it these days, so some young people today may not know about it.
I thought I'd introduce it this time, so I looked it up.
According to Wikipedia, it is written:
Murphy's Law is "If anything can go wrong, it will." ("What is likely to fail will fail.")
Murphy's Law first became popular in Japan in the early 1970s.
"When you wash a car, it always rains" is also Murphy's law.
I digress a lot, but if I were to say the content of this article according to Murphy's law, it would be like "big problems come when the problems you have in front of you are not solved".
Don't try to solve it right away
It is difficult to solve an already big problem at once. If you have multiple problems, it is obvious that it is impossible to solve them quickly.
First of all, I will conclude that this problem will not be solved immediately. Creating a situation where you are not mentally overwhelmed is the first step in solving the problem.
If you feel comfortable, you will come up with good ideas.
Problems Will Resolve Someday
"If it doesn't take forever, I won't be able to get rid of this pain forever."
However, few problems last three or five years.
In terms of work, even the boss with worst relationships usually changes after 2-3 years, and in my experience, no matter how tragic a problem is, it is rare for a painful situation to last for more than half a year.
Many problems are months at most.
Therefore, it is important to properly recognize that "now is the only time it is so painful".
It's not a big problem from the perspective of those around you (it may be)
Even if you feel that you are having a hard time, you are often in a state where you are not in a state of confusion from the perspective of those around you.
Especially at work, problems that young people with little experience are seriously thinking about are often problems that are not a big deal for seniors. If you are immersed in a problem, you will not be able to see yourself objectively, so we recommend that you talk to the people around you.
As you get hooked, you can see clues to solutions that you can't see yourself.
Create Time to Forget
There is also a characteristic that problems do not deal with and grow if left untreated, so you must work on solving them as soon as possible. Neglect is a bad hand.
But that doesn't mean that if you keep thinking about it 24 hours a day, you will be mentally crazy.
So, once you have decided what to do and acted, you should not think too much about the problem the rest of the time.
For example, if you go out to dinner with friends who have nothing to do with work at night, you can completely forget about it and enjoy it. In any case, tomorrow will remind you of the problem, so there is no need to worry about that.
By the way, about 10 years ago, I decided that this issue is important, so I will think about it 24 hours a day. The result was that I was mentally fine, but after two months, I had a physical problem, and for that reason, I was hospitalized for about a week.
I learned firsthand that nothing is good at extremes. Laughter
How to Proceed with Problem Solving
People who have read this far are thinking, "Isn't there no way to solve problems at all just by having a mindset?"
So, finally, I would like to introduce Nakamura-style problem solving.
The steps are as follows.
(1) Look at the problem as objectively as possible and look at it from a bird's eye view (2) Then chop the problem as small as possible (3) Take action to solve the most critical part of the problem
Think about each of these problems.
In this method, the most dangerous part is solved first, so the problem is gradually resolved.
If you say, "No matter how small the chop is, I can't take action," chop it up until you feel that you can take the first step in action, as the grains are still large.
I've heard that solving a big problem is like eating a big animal. The animal cannot be eaten as it is, so how can it be eaten?
"Making it edible" is the most important thing in how to proceed with problem solving.
In this way, by solving them one by one and little by little, you should be able to deal with big problems. If you can try it.
