The prospective employee says. The appeal of Colorkrew and what I grew up as a prospective intern

What I Learned from My Post-Offer Internship

Nice to meet you! I'm Shimizu, who is mainly an intern at Colorkrew as a web engineer. I started job hunting in December last year and received a job offer from Colorkrew in February of this year. Before graduating and working, I started interning in May of this year because I wanted to get used to the company as much as possible. This internship allowed me to have not only work as an engineer, but also experience management that I had never been able to do before. In this article, I would like to introduce why I chose Colorkrew and what I learned during my internship.

Why I Chose Colorkrew

I studied software at university, and my job was roughly in the IT field, so I was looking for a job regardless of the type of job. I have received briefings, interviews, and interviews with various companies, but what I valued most was **"speed of decision-making as a company"**is. I wanted to try something new, so I was looking for a company that would not take long to take action and where I could take on challenges one after another. That's where I met Colorkrew.

Charm 1: Company Culture

Colorkrew - Mission - Vision - Spirits

There is a philosophy. Among them, in Spirits,

Challenge: Create value that doesn't exist in the world yet. Always grow, always blame yourself, always have fun.

There is a value that is. In other words, Colorkrew is a company that can grow with a corporate culture that allows you to take on new challenges.

Charm 2: System

Colorkrew also adopts a vari-flat model without upper and lower layers. With the Bali Flat model, you can easily interact with a variety of employees and work while involving people. It doesn't matter whether you have seniority or experience. I want to do it! If you think so, you have an environment where you can act.

From these points, I thought it was very close to the company I wanted to work for, and I interviewed because I wanted to work at Colorkrew. And it was sunny, and I was able to get a job offer.

What I Learned During the Internship

Growing as an Engineer

I am currently working as an intern on the development of Intra, an internal portal site. I had experience developing in python and Java, but in this internship, I was developing with Laravel, a PHP framework that I had never used before, and JavaScript, which I had no experience with. It was thanks to my coach, Mr. Kono, that I was able to proceed with development without such experience. Colorkrew has a coaching system that not only coaches but also all employees.

The first internship started with a small bug fix. From there, I was gradually entrusted with a big task, and it became a full-fledged development. Mr. Kono taught us a variety of things, from the basics of development to how to implement it with usability in mind.

Since I had never developed a system with users before, Mr. Kono gave me advice on precise and unnoticeable parts, such as "this kind of display is easier for users to use" and "this kind of function is also necessary."

Another thing that surprised me was Mr. Kono's code review. Code review is very difficult and time-consuming, partly because you need to read other people's code. However, Mr. Kono read my intentions from the changes in the code and gave me advice on how to make the code even easier to read and understand. There was a lot of advice that led to my growth as an engineer.

Growing as a PM

In this internship, I was able to not only develop as an engineer, but also grow in PM (project management) such as how to plan and conduct meetings. We received various advice not only from Mr. Kono but also from Mr. Maezawa, the project leader, about this PM. In particular, when explaining what we have developed, we were advised that it is important to talk not only about what kind of product we made and how to use it, but also about our goals and motivations, such as why we made it and what our goals are. I think this is an experience that comes when you actually work and are in a situation where you are in a situation where you explain to customers. I had never had the opportunity to have such an experience before, but I was able to experience it through this internship and it led to my growth.

About Remote Work

Due to the situation caused by the coronavirus, I started my internship without ever going to the office, including an interview. I was worried because I had never been to work and had never met anyone, but that anxiety disappeared immediately.

At Colorkrew, we use an internal social media tool called Goalous to share the work we have done. Goalous gives you information about who is doing what. I was able to remember the faces and names of various employees at Goalous. Also, by receiving likes and comments on the work I did, I was able to feel that I was getting more and more familiar with the company.

The Goodness of Colorkrew

When I actually worked as an intern, I found that it was exactly the image of the company I wanted to join when I was looking for a job. I think that being treated as an employee rather than as an intern made it easier to grasp the image of the company. I want to work at Colorkrew more than before I interned. If you are interested in the company culture and Bali Flat, please come to Colorkrew once!

We are looking for friends who can take on challenges together! !
