Hello!
I'm Fukuhara, an application engineer who has been working at Colorkrew for 5 years!
He is usually in charge of the maintenance, operation, and development of the core system of the payment agency, and also provides a communication-based goal-achieving service "Goalous"I am involved in the development of ".
Today, I would like to talk about the most successful time I felt at Colorkrew.
Challenges Surely Everyone Has
In the past, the projects I participated in had regular weekly meetings.
It was a very difficult project, and even though it was a regular week, it took 3 or 4 hours.
Since it was a one-year project, there were many regular times, and it was a huge loss to spend this kind of time every week. I'm sure this kind of story is a problem everywhere.
Problems include
- Talking about things that don't need to be talked about
- Poor explanation
Is it around?
Of course, I tried these measures, but it still took a long time.
How it was resolved
As a result of thinking about how to shorten the regular routine, I stopped working on the project for only one hour and developed an app.
(We have a 20% rule, and you can use 20% of your time per month for self-improvement.) )

That is the meeting support tool "METEOR".
At our company, the salaries of all employees are publicly available, so we can fully understand the cost per second of meeting participants.
So, by entering the salary information of the participants, we tried to display how much the meeting cost and how much it costs.
As a result, all participants were made aware of the cost and achieved the feat of finishing one hour early!
Since then, we've been using this tool for a few weeks to conduct a routine.
The results exceeded my expectations, but once I found out that it would finish quickly, there was no reason to spend time, and after that, it ended quickly without tools!

No matter how conscious I tried to finish it quickly, it took a long time, but the power of numbers is great.
I was quite nervous when I visualized the cost of chatting with a few people for 5 minutes.
How much money did our chat cost! When.
Colorkrew Experience
I feel that this successful experience was truly unique to Colorkrew. In the first place, this system cannot be established if the salaries of all employees are not made public, and it is difficult to find time to be allowed to develop tools that are not directly related to work.
It was also important to have a flat relationship within the project where young people could easily try out my ideas.
There are not one or two stories of this kind of system created by engineers on their own.
It can be a script that transcribes how many hours spent on a project from CSV to a service on the web, or an application that displays a clock-in QR code at the front of the screen before the core time to go to work. There is a culture of solving one's problems with technology and sharing them with everyone, and everyone reacts quite well, so it is worth making as an engineer.
Business contributions that engineers can make
I think that the job of an engineer at an IT company is to create a service that can be sold or to provide solutions to solve customer problems.
It is also a common story that even if you create a tool or automate it with good intentions, it will not be accepted by the team and will be treated as a bad person.
In such a situation, Colorkrew has the soil to contribute to the business with ideas from engineers thanks to the following environment.
- Openness of information that even discloses salaries
- A system that allows you to take on small challenges
- A flat relationship where everyone can discuss from the same perspective
It is a great workplace for those who have the spirit of "if you don't have to make it" to make various things yourself.
Why don't you create new "things" together?
