Work-life balance. In recent years, it is an important item that both companies and employees must think about.
When I look back on the 1990s, when I became a member of society, there were many things that I thought were completely harassment, and there were almost no overtime regulations.
Even people my age at the time worked 150 hours of overtime and earned about twice as much as I did, who had almost no overtime pay.
Even if there is a lot of overtime, there is no word for service overtime. I get paid a lot, and that may have been a good time for some people.
Even on TV, there was a lot of "Can you fight 24 hours a day?" People who understand this are completely in their 40s or older. Japanese businessman!
Well, the world has completely changed.
Even at Karakul, we are desperately thinking of measures to prevent the healthcare team from working overtime for people who work a lot of overtime every month.
I have always been an opponent of overtime, so I think the trend in this world is a good thing.
On the other hand, I have not seen many people who are "completely disconnected from work except for the 8 hours they work at the company".
Young people in their 20s and 30s who just take "don't work overtime" and have nothing to do with work other than that may be unknowingly burdened with a handicap in building their careers.
Why I Didn't Work Overtime
When I was in my 20s, I was the type of person who didn't work overtime at all.
The biggest reason for this is from my sales master
"Sales have no work other than during business hours when customers are supposed to be working, and those who work overtime are just pretending to be working because they are not in sales."
Because I was taught. Laughter
In fact, I feel that many people who work overtime make a lot of explanatory materials that are not directly related to sales.
At that time, I learned that working long hours does not necessarily lead to results.
Weekdays are Work Days
However, I wasn't the type to go straight home on weekdays. Although I didn't do any direct work, I went out for drinks almost every day about the company and business partners.
In fact, this was a very important time for my work, and it was a time to learn a lot from my seniors I respected. Unlike daytime output work, it is 100% input time.
As a result, I lived a life with almost no private life on weekdays. However, I remember that after five was a different way of using time than the work and output at the company, so there was almost no mental load. There were times when I drank too much and the physical and internal organs were high.
Even now, for me, weekdays are just work days. Even if it is a working day, it means that you should maintain a mental mode of prioritizing work as soon as necessary, rather than basic overtime or long hours.
No Output on Holidays
Of course, I take a day off on holidays. However, even if I take a break, I will input into my work if I have the opportunity.
Reading books, watching TV and other media, and broadening your horizons can also increase literacy in a broad sense, and in a way that is useful for work.
With such new knowledge, I try to think a little about my work at a distance from usual.
What I am careful about is that I don't "output" on holidays. For example, I try not to start making the presentations I need for the next week because I have a good idea, or to write blog posts.
If you do that, you won't be able to rest in the end. I don't output to add definition.
Finally.
I don't want to be misunderstood, but this is not a story about "you should always think about work".
I hope it will be a hint for those who are told not to work overtime and for young people who are not doing enough work or who want to accelerate their growth.
