Introduce Yourself
Nice to meet you! My name is Stephen Raharja.
As the name suggests, I am a foreigner (Indonesian, to be exact), but I can use Japanese, so I write in Japanese.
I joined ISAO in March of this year and joined the Goalous team.
My first language is Indonesian, but thanks to my eight years of studying abroad, I have become very fluent in English. I studied Japanese most on my own, but I still haven't gotten used to it because I didn't have anyone to talk to directly.
Experience
Actually, I was a little depressed before I came here.
After graduating from university, I returned to my hometown. I met the manager of a company near my house, and he invited me to join the company because he wanted to expand the company into the IT industry, but there was a shortage of human resources.
It was good at first, but I didn't get along well with the company and it was stressful.
I have wanted to go to Japan since high school, but I have not been able to do so until now due to financial reasons. Still, I thought that if I worked in Japan, I could live in Japan for a long time, and I had a strong desire to look for a job in Japan even after I got a job.
I kept doing the same thing for about a year, and on top of that, I felt stressed, so I lost my confidence and only felt like I was going to make a resume for job hunting tomorrow for months, and my resume remained blank.
As the months passed, I became more impatient and stressed. Even if I knew in my head that I had to escape from this bad environment, I couldn't do it.
At that time, my father introduced me to a person who could only be described as a "wise man". The "wise man" was an old friend of his father, he was a man with experience in life. I mustered up the courage to talk to him and told him all my current situation and worries. After listening to my story, he was a little surprised.
"You have studied abroad twice, which most people can't do, and the first time was a scholarship you took yourself, which is perfect for your brain. He is friendly and has a dazzling smile. Appearance can be easily improved by exercise. From my point of view, there are few things to worry about."
I was surprised to be pointed out something that had been taken for granted until now.
I was too focused on one point, but after hearing this story, I stopped worrying about my surroundings and myself. Thanks to the evaluation from a third party, I finally came to know my strengths and weaknesses.
At the same time, I felt that most of the stress was blown away. With that opportunity, I started writing my resume in earnest and started job hunting.
I searched for a job online from Indonesia for several months and received rejection notices from many places. There were many reasons. For example, lack of experience, lack of skills, whether or not you have work experience in Japan, etc.
Still, I was not afraid and continued to take on challenges. As a result, I was able to join ISAO.
What I Learned
When you know your strength, you will feel more confident, and when you know your weaknesses, you will look for ways to improve them.
That's why I try to make it a habit to meditate once a week so that I can reflect on what I've done. At the same time, I am more actively listening to evaluations from others so that I can improve myself more efficiently.
I believe that thanks to them, I can grow my career and life at a faster pace.
