Good morning from Seattle.
This is Akiyama, an engineer.
We participated in Microsoft Build 2017 held in Seattle on 5/10~12 local time and posted this report from there.
You can watch the Build on Channel9 .
About Keynotes
Now, let's take a quick look at the keynotes for Day 2 of Build 2017.
See the Day 1 keynotes here, Azure updates here, and Azure storage roundups here .
Windows10
The Creators Update came on 4/11, and the main focus was on announcing the next Creators Update scheduled for the fall.
New with the Windows 10 Creators Update
Windows Story Remix
It's hard to explain in words, so we recommend watching the demo video.
Deep Learning recommends photos and videos that are relevant to the main character of your content. You can choose a genre of background music and combine videos to create a series of videos. You can also import 3D content and make a movie.
In addition to the demonstration at the venue, if you caption the girl in the last dinosaur video, the caption will follow the girl even if you run and move, or you can specify an effect on a soccer ball to create an anime-like production.
To be honest, the name "Creators Update" didn't come to mind, but when I see this feature, I feel like I can call myself a creator.
Microsoft Fluent Design System
It was an announcement of whether it is assembled with Windows 10 design elements that cover not only PCs and phones, but also Hololens and IoT devices.
One Drive Files On-Demand
Introducing OneDrive Files On-Demand and other features making it easy to access files I had the impression that OneDrive had been integrated from a feature of Windows into the OS itself. If you don't have a file entity, you don't need space. When you open it, the file will be downloaded when you need it. Files that need to be synced all the time are set up with one click.

— Windows (@Windows) May 11It is a mechanism that keeps a history of which app you operated on.
Will it be found out whether you are doing it properly?
Cloud-powered Clipboard
You can copy the clipboard across devices. I feel like I heard it somewhere.
Development Tool
.NET Standard 2.0 for UWP
It provides a common .NET environment across Windows, iOS, and Android cross-platform environments.
roadmap is still in preview at this time.
The official version is scheduled for Q3.
XAML Standard 1.0
Solve the problem that Xamarin and UWP XAML syntax are different.
XAML Standard You can standardize the UI implementation method on Windows, Android, and iOS.
Some applications may be able to divert the UI itself, but since the design guides are different for each platform, it may be better to recognize that the implementation method can be unified.
Project Rome SDK for iOS
Project Rome refers to a cross-device platform for taking advantage of the Microsoft Graph .
This time, the SDK for iOS is now in preview.
Windows 10S
It was an announcement about the OS that will be installed in the Surface Laptop announced the other day.
Surface Laptop is a beautiful blend of fabric, function, and sleek design. Make it yours. https://t.co/tjoPzoLClp pic.twitter.com/gvvKjdTas4 — Microsoft Surface (@surface) May 2, 2017
I touched the Laptop because it was on display, but it was very light and close to the excitement I had when I first touched the MacBook Air. At 13.5 inches, it weighs 1.252 kg, which compares well to the 13.3 kg of the 1.35-inch MacBook Air.
Windows 10S only works apps that are distributed in the Windows Store. There are a few other differences, so please refer to this FAQ for more details.
Windows RT used to be in this position, but I think it depends on whether or not your apps get together. The app was also announced later.
Windows Store
The following apps are scheduled to be released.
- Spotify
- iTunes
- Sap Digital Boardroom
The iTunes announcement was a buzz in the venue.
It looks like there will be more of these apps coming to life.
- Ubuntu
- SUSU Linux
- Fedora
New distro’s coming to Bash/WSL via Windows Store I and the developers around me use Bash on Windows (Ubuntu), but for those who are picky, it's nice to have a different distribution available. It was probably necessary to publish it in the Windows Store in order to use it in Windows 10S earlier.
Mixed Reality
Hololens is still fresh in our memory, but this year we unveiled motion controllers.
Windows Mixed Reality Dev Kits available for pre-order
Launched in the US and Canada this summer, it comes with Acer's HMD and motion controller for $399. We are looking forward to the release in Japan.
I'll have to ask ISAO's Hololens users when I get home.
Conclusion
We delivered the second day of the keynote.
I thought of machine learning as something to run in the cloud in combination with web services, but I was surprised to see it as a feature of Windows clients around the world.
Come to think of it, I heard in the IoT session on the first day that it is not only running in the cloud, but also machine learning on each device to reduce the response, and this may be connected.
I realized the greatness of Microsoft in providing services by combining appropriate technologies without being divided by sectionalism.
