If you are an AWS engineer, you may have heard of Amazon's headquarters in Seattle, Amazon Go, The Spheres, etc., but in fact, Microsoft's headquarters is also located in Redmond, which is a little far from Seattle, and this is also your lap.
This time, I will report on Go Hashimoto and Microsoft Build 2018. The first time will be an explanation of the preparations and venue for those who are participating in Build for the first time like me.
What is Microsoft Build?
It looks like Microsoft's developer conference. Since it is Microsoft Build, not Azure Build, I guess I said it was a Microsoft-related latest update announcement. Looking at the Session Scheduler, there were also sessions in Office 365 and Power BI. When I asked people who have been participating for a long time, they said that Azure is being handled more and more every year.
How do I get there?
Last year, there was a tour, but this time it was an individual application. PTS even applied for hotels, air tickets, and Build participation.
Things to Do Before You Go
When you register for Build, you will receive an email asking you to check your Contact Preferences, so register.
Once the registration is complete, you will receive a registration completion email.
You will need a LinkedIn account or a Microsoft account to register. At re:invent and AWS Summit, I have to book popular sessions early, and I am impatient and stare at the session list, but that's okay. The list of sessions was not announced until about a week ago. Let's wait patiently.
Check the sessions you are interested in from the session list. We mainly scheduled k8s, IoT, etc.
In addition, the Build app will also be released along with the release of the session list, so install it on your smartphone.

It takes about 8 hours from Narita to arrive in Seattle.
There are shuttle buses and taxis from the airport to downtown Seattle, but this time I traveled by train called Link Light Rail. It takes about 40 minutes. It seems to run every 10 minutes. The day of arrival was the day Ohtani took the mound at Safeco Field, and many people got off at the stadium station on the way.
After Arrival
I have time to check in at the hotel, so I go to visit the Amazon headquarters instead of the Microsoft headquarters. Microsoft is a bit far from Redmond as we mentioned at the beginning, so it will take some time to move.

I thought I could put it inside, but was it because it was a holiday? I couldn't enter anything other than The Spheres.
I regained my composure and went to Amazon Go. Registration of the application is required in advance. I put it back in my hands in various ways, but the products I finally brought out were properly recorded. If you make a mistake, you can cancel it.
We had overlooked the email, but apparently we can register the day before. It will be crowded on the day and it will take a long time, so we recommend that you register in advance.
On the day
The venue will be the Washington State Convention Center. The Sheraton Hotel and the convention center diagonally in front of it are also sub-venues such as WorkShop. The escalators are crowded between sessions, but it didn't take that long to get around.
Drinks such as Starbucks coffee and cola, lunch, and snacks will also be distributed free of charge at the venue. Also, I felt that there were fewer exhibitors than re:invent, but you can get a variety of novelties at the exhibition hall.
